The material necessary for the foot stool plans shown are as follows:

2 pieces for the ends, 1" x 10" x 15"
3 pieces for cross braces, 1" x 4" x 12"
2 pieces for end braces, 7/8" x 4" x 8"
1 piece for a top board, 1/2" x 10 x 14
1 piece of leather measuring 16" x 11"
Nails
Wood screws with a round head

Mark both end pieces and cut them out with a scroll or coping saw. Bore the center opening first at one end and then cut it out using a saw. Accurately square and finish the ends of the 3 long braces. This step is important for the quality of your stool.

The seat is made from a box form with the open side facing downward. The top is a 1/2" piece of wood that is eight inches wide by 12 inches long.

The sides will be formed by 2 of the long braces. The ends will be the short braces. Using nails, put this box together and then, using the wood screws, screwed into position so they are flush with the top edge of the end pieces.

Using screws, add the lower brace in place. For adding the leather top, turn one-half inch under at each end and bring one and one-half inch down on each side. This will create enough looseness to pad the seat properly. You can use large round head brass nails to create a neat appearance. Now your foot stool is ready to be stained.
